Temple Filler Brisbane

As we age, tear trough hollowing or sunken under-eyes tends to become more noticeable. This occurs at the junction where two facial muscles meet, and it is often accentuated by the protrusion of the fat pad beneath the eye. Consequently, a shadow forms under the eye. We can strategically use dermal fillers to add volume under the eyes and reduce the appearance of tear trough hollowing.

Our outstanding experience with dermal filler

Founder of Ascension, Dr. Scott Allison, is known for his experience with cosmetic injectables, with a particular focus on dermal fillers. Sharing his refined techniques and results at domestic and international conferences, he teaches other doctors and nurses his methods to achieve effective results.

Dr. Allison trains all Ascension Clinic staff, ensuring that the clinic maintains a high standard of care and high-quality results. Knowledge of facial anatomy, attention to detail and an understanding of each patient’s desired results are important when performing temple filler treatments.

“Hollow temples are the most commonly overlooked sign of ageing. As this area becomes more concave, it causes the brow area to drop and can make a person’s face appear skeletal. By softly re-volumizing this area using dermal filler, I am able to support the brow and provide a more youthful appearance to the periorbital area.” Dr. Scott Allison.

What is dermal filler?

Composed of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers are gel-like substances that add volume to the injected areas. There are a variety of types of fillers available, including firm filler to make changes to the shape of the treatment area, and soft filler for hydrating the skin and smoothing fine lines. The filler used for a temple filler treatment will be firmer, with a high lifting potential to achieve sufficient volume that can create the desired effect.

What can we do with temple filler?

IMPROVE THE TEMPORAL HOLLOW

With temple filler, the depression in the temporal hollow can be filled to replace the lost volume.

SUPPORT THE BROWS

The outside of the brows can naturally fall away as we age. Temple filler can add volume to the area, supporting the brows and improving their shape.

ADD STRUCTURE TO THE CHEEKS

Temple filler can be used to add volume to the temple area above the cheek, improving structure and achieving a smoother curve (known as the ‘Ogee Curve), between the cheeks, temple and forehead.

Possible benefits of temple filler

To make changes to the shape and structure of the face, dermal fillers are a minimally invasive treatment option, demanding little to no downtime. It can effectively improve common signs of ageing, without the need for surgery.

Sometimes, a hollow and aged appearance can become more noticeable by only focusing on replacing volume on the cheeks, highlighting the appearance of hollow temples. By focusing on the temples as well as other desired areas, temple filler can achieve more balanced and comprehensive results.

Treatments with temple filler are highly personalised, tailored to your unique facial structure and considering your personal aesthetic preferences.

Pricing

Pricing for temple filler varies based on individual needs, as the required dosages differ. Prices start at $630.

Suitable candidates for the treatment

During a consultation, you will discuss your current health, including any underlying medical conditions, any medications you are taking and any allergies you may have. You will also discuss your expectations for the results of the treatment, the amount of filler you are comfortable with, and the aftercare steps that will be essential to follow to support best results and prevent complications.

Generally, good candidates for temple filler have volume loss but are otherwise good health and will not have any known allergies to materials used. Realistic expectations are also important, understanding that results are highly personalised and can depend on each individuals response to treatment. Candidates should be able to follow aftercare instructions to support healing at the injection sites and effective results.

Age can also be a factor when considering if temple fillers are right for you. Your injector will assess your facial anatomy and if you have reached a certain level of facial maturity. Skin elasticity and bone structure will also be considered.

After discussing your expectations, health, aftercare steps and the condition of the treatment area, we will be able to determine if you are a suitable candidate for temple filler and make personalised recommendations.

The temple filler procedure

Before starting the temple filler treatment, the skin in the treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed to support proper hygiene. Pain during the procedure is typically minimal, but the filler used can contain a local anaesthetic to further minimise any discomfort. If preferred, a topical numbing cream can be applied before the treatment.

Your injector will first identify anatomical landmarks and blood vessels to avoid during the injection process. Our injectors are trained with a thorough understanding of facial anatomy, which is highly important when performing procedures with cosmetic injectables.

With a single injection point and using a fine needle, the temple filler is placed underneath the muscle, to replace the volume in the area. Your injector may then gently massage the area to ensure proper filler distribution.

Treatment times can vary, depending on your personalised treatment steps. On average, the treatment can take about 15-20 minutes.

Recovery and aftercare

Downtime after temple fillers will be minimal, with some patients potentially experiencing swelling or bruising, although this is generally minimised as the filler is placed below the muscle. If you do experience any discomfort after the treatment, mild pain medication may help to alleviate any pain as it subsides within the next few days. You can also apply ice to help minimise any swelling or bruising.

After your treatment, you will need to avoid applying makeup for about four hours. You will also need to avoid exercise for the next 24 hours and avoid alcohol, as this can increase bruising. You should avoid swimming for about one week after the treatment. You will receive personalised aftercare instructions during your consultation.

Temple fillers can last from about six to 18 months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and the amount of filler injected. Maintenance treatments will be required to refresh results in the longer term.

Possible side effects

To prevent significant side effects, treatments with temple fillers must be performed by highly trained injectors. An understanding of facial anatomy is essential to avoid complications that can occur as a result of affecting blood vessels in the area. On the rare chance that any symptoms of these complications do occur, the filler will need to be dissolved immediately. You can discuss the symptoms to look out for during your consultation. As for minor side effects, some bleeding at the injection sites, bruising and swelling can occur, but these side effects will subside shortly after treatment.
