AviClear takes a targeted approach to acne treatment, unlike topical medications or broad-spectrum light therapies.
This treatment uses a precise laser wavelength (1726 nm) that bypasses the surface of your skin and reaches the deeper-lying sebaceous glands. Unlike broader light therapies, this targeted approach minimises unnecessary exposure to other skin tissues.
Once the laser light reaches the sebaceous glands, it’s absorbed by the tissue. This triggers a gentle heating effect that doesn’t damage the glands but helps regulate their activity.
By downregulating sebum production, AviClear Laser helps prevent future breakouts at the source. This targeted approach holds promise for achieving long-term results.

How many treatments are needed?

The initial AviClear treatment series addresses current breakouts and aims for long-term prevention.
However, some patients may benefit from occasional maintenance sessions to sustain the results. These treatments can be spaced further apart, typically every 6-12 months, depending on your individual response.

The AviClear treatment
The process starts with a personalised acne consultation with your Dermal Clinician. They’ll discuss your acne concerns, medical history, and desired outcomes. This allows them to tailor an AviClear treatment plan specifically for you and set realistic expectations.
Your Dermal Clinician will also assess your skin type and severity of acne to determine if AviClear Laser is the right treatment for you. Open communication about any questions or concerns is encouraged during this process.
On the day of the treatment, your clinician will thoroughly cleanse your skin to ensure a smooth and effective treatment. They’ll also address any anxieties you might have and make sure you feel comfortable throughout the process.
Each AviClear session typically takes around 30 to 60 minutes, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules.
AviClear may help with clearer skin over a series of treatments. With continued treatment, you’ll gradually notice a reduction in breakouts and acne severity.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery after AviClear is generally simple, with minimal downtime.
You should avoid excessive sun and heat exposure, as the treated skin can be sensitive after treatment. It will be essential to keep your skin clean and moisturised after treatment, and apply SPF 50+ daily. Our team can recommend products that are suitable for your skin type.
Avoid picking or scratching the skin in your treated area, to allow the skin to heal sufficiently. You will need to avoid makeup, exfoliants and strong products, such as retinol products, for a set period of time after your treatment.
Possible side effects
During the treatment, you might experience a slight warming sensation or temporary redness in the treated areas. These effects are typically mild and usually subside within a few hours after the session.
Your skin might also be slightly more sensitive following the treatment, especially to sun exposure. In some cases, temporary inflammation may occur in the treated areas. There’s no need to worry as these side effects are usually short-lived and resolve on their own within a day or two.
Very rarely, some patients might experience temporary hyperpigmentation (darkening) or hypopigmentation (lightening) in the treated areas.
