At Ascension, we offer CO2 laser resurfacing using the DEKA Tetra Pro platform, a CO2 laser platform. This system allows for a refined approach to skin resurfacing, addressing concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, and textural irregularities.
The Tetra Pro offers a high level of precision and control. Using DEKA’s exclusive Pulse Shape Design® (PSD) technology and multiple pulse modes, treatments can be carefully tailored to suit different skin types, concerns, and treatment areas. This allows our clinicians to balance efficacy with comfort and recovery, rather than relying on a one size fits all approach.
Treatment time and recovery will vary depending on the depth and extent of resurfacing required. Suitability and downtime is all discussed in detail during a consultation.
Before & after images of our actual patients.
During a consultation with our clinic, we will show you a multitude of before & after images and find cases where the patient had similar anatomical features to you, to help you understand what the treatment may involve.
All non-surgical cosmetic procedures carry potential risks and side effects. These may vary depending on the treatment, the products used, and the individual. It’s important to have a comprehensive consultation with a registered health practitioner prior to undergoing any procedure to understand the risks, potential outcomes, and aftercare requirements.
About the treatment
What is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing?
This procedure uses laser energy to resurface the skin by causing ablation and coagulation at targeted levels in the skin. It is particularly beneficial for patients living in Australia, where a significant amount of sun exposure is accumulated throughout our lives. CO2 laser skin resurfacing addresses deep lines formed by scars or deep wrinkling, elastosis (a loss of elasticity) and uneven textural changes in the skin over time.
How does CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing work?
It works by precisely ablating areas of skin into tunnelling micro columns produced by laser energy applied onto the surface of the skin. The CO2 laser transforms light energy into heat, coagulating tissue and causing formation of fresh new collagen and elastin bundles. Results develop after treatment and may continue to improve over the following months. Individual results vary.
What is the downtime for Fractional CO2?
The fractional ablative CO2 laser is a more intense resurfacing treatment and requires 5-7 days of downtime, depending on the depth of the treatment. The skin may also stay slightly pink for a month or so after healing is completed. Collagen will continue to be produced up to 12 months out from the treatment. The outcomes of this procedure are significantly improved by diligently following the pre and post-care instructions below.
What happens during CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
Patients will be welcomed to the clinic and have topical numbing gel applied to the treatment area. They will also be given the option of oral pain medication to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. The CO2 laser resurfacing procedure will be provided under the guidance of Dr. Allison, a doctor with extensive experience in ablative laser. After the treatment, a post-procedure balm will be applied to the skin and an Aftercare Pack will be provided with detailed instructions. The patient will need to be driven home from the clinic by a friend or family member. The time spent in the clinic will be around 2 hours, but the procedure itself is only 60 minutes.
