Laser Genesis Brisbane

Ascension Cosmetic Medicine offers Laser Genesis (also known as the ‘Laser Facial’), a laser skin treatment for men and women. This treatment is sometimes used to prepare for an event, alongside a usual skin routine.

Our experience with laser treatments

At Ascension, our experienced team of Cosmetic Dermal Therapists are trained to perform laser treatments. We performed personalised, tailored treatments that meet the needs of each patient’s skin.

Trained by our clinic founder, Dr. Scott Allison, our team performs treatments with precision and high attention to detail, appropriately targeting each patient’s skin concerns with the right techniques.

“Laser Genesis is one of my favourite minimal-downtime laser treatments to boost collagen, reduce redness and improve skin texture. I often recommend this treatment for skin maintenance, or in the week leading up to a special event.” – Dr. Scott Allison.

Possible benefits of Laser Genesis

As a cosmetic laser treatment, Laser Genesis can treat a variety of skin concerns, from redness to signs of ageing and scarring. The treatment stimulates collagen production, which can have numerous benefits for the skin.

Associated with minimal downtime, the 20 to 30 minute treatment allows you to resume your daily routine afterwards, simply wearing sunscreen if you will be outdoors.

With a series of treatments, the laser may help improve skin quality and texture, with results that vary between individuals. Laser Genesis can be suitable for various skin types and tones and can be personalised, tailored to your personal skin needs.

Suitable candidates for the treatment

Candidates with a variety of skin types and tones can be suitable for treatment with Laser Genesis. Various factors will need to be considered to determine if the treatment is suitable for you, including the health of your skin, your particular skin concerns and your personal expectations.

Some contraindications to the treatment can include if a candidate is pregnant or breastfeeding, has been taking acne medication (or other medication that may affect the skin), and has any open wounds or active infections in the treatment area. Suitable candidates should have realistic expectations for the results of the treatment and be willing to undergo the right number of treatments to work towards the desired results.

Each candidate can undergo a thorough assessment during a consultation with Dr. Scott Allison, to determine if Laser Genesis is a suitable treatment choice. It’s important that the treatment is performed on suitable candidates to prevent complications.

Pricing

Pricing for Laser Genesis varies based on individual needs, as the required number of treatments differ. Prices start at $390, with packages available.

The Laser Genesis procedure

Before your procedure, any makeup or moisturises will need to be thoroughly removed to ensure the skin is clean and free from product residue. Since the treatment is generally tolerable, numbing cream isn’t required.

Depending on your chosen treatment areas, the Laser Genesis applicator will then be passed over specific areas of the face, neck or décolletage. You might feel a gentle warmth on the skin as the laser creates heat. The laser works to heat the upper dermis, below the skin’s surface. Over time, this will generate collagen production, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of other skin concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles. When treating redness, the heat generated in dilated capillaries can help to reduce redness.

The treatment involves minimal downtime, allowing you to resume your daily routine as normal. We recommend wearing sunscreen if the treated area will be exposed to the sun after your procedure. While just one treatment can be beneficial, patients may need up to six treatments, depending on the individual.

Recovery and aftercare

While downtime is minimal after the treatment, you may experience some slight redness in the treated area, but this should subside within a few hours. You will be able to resume your normal daily routine, but we recommend avoiding sun exposure or protecting your skin with sunscreen if the area will be exposed to UV rays

To protect the skin, you should avoid exfoliants for about 48 hours after the treatment, as the skin can be slightly sensitive. You should also try to avoid excessive heat exposure, including saunas and steam rooms, for at least 48 hours.

After treatment, you should keep the skin in the treated area clean. During your consultation, Dr. Allison may recommend some skincare products that can benefit the skin after laser treatments.

Possible side effects

There are minimal side effects associated with Laser Genesis. Some redness or a sensation of warmth can be experienced after the treatment, but this typically subsides within a few hours. Following aftercare and preparation steps can help to reduce side effects after your treatment.
