Possible benefits of laser tattoo removal with PicoSure Pro
By using an advanced laser, tattoo removal treatments can target specific areas of the skin without affecting the surrounding skin. With controlled, high peak power and ultra-short pulse durations, the laser prevents burning, scarring and other damage to the treated area.
PicoSure Pro reaches below the surface of the skin within picoseconds, efficiently targeting tattoo pigments, which can achieve better clearance in fewer treatments than with other devices.
As well as effectively targeting black ink, the treatment can be used to remove coloured tattoos, particularly blue, purple and green ink.
The tattoo removal procedure
While the treatment itself can take a matter of seconds to cover a single tattoo, depending on the size of the tattoo, topical numbing cream can take up to 20 to 30 minutes to take effect. Numbing cream is optional, but can be used to reduce discomfort throughout the procedure.
After preparing the skin, the PicoSure Pro laser will be passed over the tattoo, delivering energy in ultra-short pulses. The laser works by breaking down the tattoo’s pigments into small particles, making the tattoo less visible over time. As the laser treats the targeted skin, you may feel some pain and discomfort.
To complete the treatment, a bandage may be placed over the area to keep the treated skin dry. Patients can typically resume their normal daily routine after the procedure, following some aftercare instructions to protect the treated skin. A series of treatments are likely required to achieve optimal results.

Recovery and aftercare
After the treatment, you may notice some whitening of the treated skin (hypopigmentation), but this should fade within six to 12 months. You may also feel some warmth in the treated area after your treatment session. Applying cold compress can help to manage discomfort.
During your consultation, one of our team members can provide you with personalised aftercare steps to help your skin heal. Keeping the treated area clean, avoiding picking at or causing trauma to the skin, keeping the skin moisturised and avoiding sun exposure will be some important steps to follow.
