Factor 4

Factor 4 is a revolutionary anti-ageing treatment that uses the body’s own growth factors to boost production of collagen and elastin in the skin. This dramatically improves the appearance of wrinkles, lines, texture, tone and scarring. We start by drawing your blood and treating it to create a pure conditioning serum. This serum is then injected back into your skin, or it can be used as part of a skin needling treatment. Factor 4 is also an effective treatment for hair loss.

What we can
improve

Fine lines and wrinkles

We can treat fine lines and wrinkles by encouraging the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Factor 4 treatment also increases the thickness of the dermis, helping to further smooth out the skin and blur imperfections.

Skin tone and texture

When we increase the collagen in the skin through Factor 4, textural irregularities are decreased. This gives a supple, smooth surface to the skin, giving you a plump and hydrated look. This is particularly effective on the face, neck decolletage and back of the hands.

Scarring

Due to the huge increase in collagen following a Factor 4 treatment, we can improve and remodel both flat and raised scars. It’s particularly useful when combined with skin needling.

Hair loss

The growth proteins in your Factor 4 serum can be used to thicken hair. It stimulates fine, downy hairs to become thick and luscious, and encourages an increased amount of hair follicles to enter the growth phase at any given time. When used with oral medications, hair loss can be a thing of the past.

Factor 4 FAQs

How many treatments do I need?

After your blood has been harvested you will have four treatments for skin rejuvenation and six treatments for hair loss. The first treatment can often be performed on the same day as the blood harvest. Each treatment is generally spaced 2 weeks apart. During each treatment we prepare the skin and supply you with all of the pre- and post-treatment creams you will require.

Factor 4 vs. traditional prp

There are several key differences that set Factor 4 ahead of all other PRP technologies on the market.

  1. Factor 4 only requires blood to be collected once. As the serum does not contain any cells it is able to be frozen for up to 7 months and still retain the full concentration of growth factors. Traditional PRP, in contrast, requires the blood to be drawn at every session.
  2. Factor 4 contains 4x the number of growth factors to traditional PRP. This occurs due to the incubation process, whereby the serum is kept at body temperature (37 degrees Celsius) for 6 hours. This gives the platelets and cells the time to produce maximal amounts of growth factor, which is the active part of the collagen producing process.
  3. Factor 4 is more comfortable. Traditional PRP is renowned for being painful as it is injected. This is due to the platelets and heparin that is present in the plasma that is injected. Nerve fibres in the skin identify these cellular products as being outside a blood vessel (where they shouldn’t be) and activate causing pain to the patient. Factor 4 is highly purified and has had these cellular products filtered off. As a result, the injections are considerably more comfortable.

Possible side effects

Most patients will have some degree of swelling and redness associated with the treatment. This is known as a microvascular reaction and is expected, but it usually settles within 24 hours. There may also be some discomfort, bleeding or bruising. Infection is rare, but can occur.

Recovery

The redness and swelling generally resolves within 24 hours. Small bruises may take 1-2 weeks to resolve, however these can often be covered up with makeup.

When will I see results?

For skin rejuvenation improvement in skin tone and texture are often noticeable after the first treatment. Induction of collagen will take 4-6 weeks and will continue for several months. In hair loss treatment most patients will notice a thickening in their hair by 6 weeks, however this will continue to improve over the following 12 months.

After care

Hydrate your skin 3-5 times a day using a recovery balm or hypoallergenic moisturiser. Use mild cleansing products only. Do not use any ‘active’ products such as retinol or AHA’s for 5 days. Avoid touching or rubbing the area. Sun protection is vital for the first week to prevent pigment changes in the skin. No swimming for 5 days.
