What is Rejuran?
Rejuran is a skin treatment that uses Polynucleotide (PN) technology, a material derived from salmon DNA. It is used to support the skin’s natural collagen production.
When placed into the skin, the polynucleotide complex is intended to support the skin’s natural processes, which may help with hydration and the appearance of skin texture and fine lines. Individual results vary.
Rejuran is typically used on the face, most commonly around crow’s feet, cheeks, mouth, jowls, under the eyes, as well as acne scarring. It can even be used on the neck. Depending on assessment, it may also be used in the area around the eyes.
Seeing whether Rejuran is right for you
During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin and discuss what the treatment can and cannot do, so you can make an informed decision.
Before & after images of Rejuran patients
During a consultation with our clinic, we will show you a multitude of before & after images and find cases where the patient had similar anatomical features to you, so we can show you what results are possible with this procedure at our clinic.
All non-surgical cosmetic procedures carry potential risks and side effects. These may vary depending on the treatment, the products used, and the individual. It’s important to have a comprehensive consultation with a registered health practitioner prior to undergoing any procedure to understand the risks, potential outcomes, and aftercare requirements.
About the treatment
How it works
Rejuran takes a non-invasive approach. This bio-regenerator is precisely placed into the targeted areas of your skin. The polynucleotide then stimulates your skin cells, prompting them to increase collagen production.
Collagen is the protein that supports skin firmness and elasticity. It also plays a role in the skin’s natural healing and blood flow.
Results are generally not based on a single treatment. It often involves a combination approach chosen for your skin, alongside specific options identified during your clinical examination. Rejuran is sometimes used together with RF microneedling or laser therapies. Individual results vary.
Benefits of Rejuran
Rejuran offers a personalised approach to bio-regeneration, tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
- Supporting skin firmness: Rejuran is intended to support your skin’s natural collagen production, which may help the skin look firmer over time. Individual results vary.
- Skin texture and tone: Rejuran is intended to support overall skin texture, tone and quality. Individual results vary.
- Gradual results: Rejuran works with your skin’s natural regeneration. Because it is intended to support your body’s own collagen production, results tend to develop gradually, and individual results vary.
- What to expect: Rejuran uses a biocompatible material and takes a minimally invasive approach. Depending on assessment, it may be used in delicate areas such as around the eyes and mouth. Your suitability and any risks are discussed during your consultation.
Are Rejuran treatments painful?
Pain perception varies from person to person. The treatment uses very fine needles. Some people find it reasonably comfortable, while others may find it uncomfortable. Your clinician will discuss pain management with you before the procedure.
A topical numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to help with comfort. Talk to your clinician about the options available to you.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of Rejuran sessions recommended will depend on your specific needs and desired outcomes. It is typically advised to undergo an initial series of three treatments, with each session scheduled one month apart. Then, one to two maintenance treatments are recommended every six to 12 months.
If you’re looking for more noticeable improvements in skin texture, tone, and elasticity or targeting concerns like deeper wrinkles, you may require additional treatments.
Your cosmetic nurse or doctor will discuss a treatment plan based on your specific goals, and advise you on any maintenance schedule. Individual results vary.
Pricing
At Ascension, our treatment costs can depend on your total treatment time, number of treatment areas and number of sessions you may need.
Suitable candidates for Rejuran
Suitable candidates for Rejuran treatment include individuals seeing signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles, loss of volume, or skin laxity. The treatment can be beneficial for individuals who are looking for a non-surgical option for skin laxity, however candidates need to have realistic expectations regarding the outcomes of the treatment. Whether Rejuran is right for you, and when to consider it, is best decided with a practitioner based on your individual skin and goals rather than on age. Here’s who might see the most benefits:
- Those in their late 20s and above seeking long-lasting skin renewal and healing
- Those with dry and dull skin looking for intense skin hydration
- Those with enlarged pores and irregular skin texture
- Those who do not want the unnatural look of added volume
- Those with fine lines and wrinkles
- Those with dark eye circles and sagging skin
- Those who want to boost and refresh their complexion
The Rejuran treatment
Before diving in, you’ll have a personalised consultation with your cosmetic nurse or physician. They’ll discuss your skin concerns, medical history, and desired outcomes. This helps them tailor a treatment plan just for you and set realistic expectations.
On the day of your treatment, your clinician will thoroughly cleanse your skin. They might discuss any concerns you have and make sure you feel comfortable.
The clinician will precisely place the Rejuran solution according to your personalised plan, targeting specific areas. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes.
You might notice some improvement in your skin’s appearance early on, but Rejuran is intended to work gradually over the following months as the skin’s natural processes respond. Changes to texture, tone and elasticity develop over time, and individual results vary.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery time after Rejuran is minimal, with effects lasting only 1-2 days. Rejuran treatments are scattered between 1-1.5 cm apart across the prescribed treatment area, so expect 40-60 blebs that usually settle within 12 to 36 hours.
To ensure optimal results and a smooth recovery, always follow the aftercare advice of your Doctor or Nurse. It’s recommended to avoid makeup, strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Possible side effects
Like with any cosmetic treatment, being aware of potential risks and side effects is essential. Whilst Rejuran treatment is generally well-tolerated, some patients may encounter mild swelling and redness of the skin after the treatment. Temporary small bumps at the treatment sites are also observed, but these typically subside within one to two days. Serious side effects are uncommon.
In rare cases, some patients might experience mild bruising or itchiness, which resolves within a few days.
During your consultation, your clinician can discuss these potential side effects in more detail and address any specific concerns you may have. Don’t hesitate to contact your doctor if you have concerns after your Rejuran treatment.
