Our exceptional experience treating lip volume loss
Treating lip volume loss is highly personalised, requiring expertise and meticulous attention to detail to achieve optimal results. At Ascension, we take a patient-centred approach, holistically considering your facial anatomy and aesthetic preferences to address concerns related to lip size, shape and symmetry. In most cases, a three-dimensional shape that enhances the natural curvature and form of the lips delivers the most subtle and desirable outcome.
Sharing his techniques and results with other Doctors and Nurses, Dr. Scott Allison attends domestic and international conferences, passionate about achieving exceptional results. Our team at Ascension are trained by Dr. Allison, using effective, patient-tailored techniques to maintain a high level of care.
“Lips are a really subjective area to treat, and everyone has their own concept of what is beautiful. There are certain aspects to lip proportion and shape that are considered aesthetically attractive, but almost everything else can (and should) be tailored to the individual.” – Dr. Scott Allison.

Areas of concern /
Multiple factors can contribute to lip volume loss, and it is crucial for your Practitioner to thoroughly evaluate the underlying cause to determine the most suitable treatment for you. During your consultation, we work with you to understand your facial anatomy and unique aesthetic needs and goals. A personalised treatment plan will then be developed to address lip concerns.

Proportion
A specialised understanding of ideal ratios is needed to best address natural lip proportions. The “golden ratio” for Caucasian patients is 1:1:68, however if this is broadly applied to other ethnicities, such as Asian or Polynesian patients, then the results can seem disharmonious. The Ascension team, trained by Dr. Scott, is highly sensitive to ethno-aesthetic differences and ensures treatments are tailored accordingly.
Lip Border & Shape
As we age we tend to lose structure to the lip. A loss of the lip border and projection can result in a flat, curled-in appearance. For patients that would like to prevent this, defining the cupid’s bow and philtral columns could restore a more youthful appearance.
Perioral Rejuvenation
This is an often neglected consideration when creating an aesthetic that is natural and age-appropriate. Smoker’s lines and marionette folds can develop around this area of the mouth due to repeated facial expressions, collagen loss and decreased skin elasticity. Addressing the lips without consideration of the perioral area can result in an unnatural appearance. We recommend considering both areas concurrently for optimum results.

Your consultation at our Brisbane Clinic
During your initial consultation, various aspects will be discussed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the procedure and your specific needs. The consultation allows us to discuss expectations openly and create a treatment plan you can approve.
Firstly, your cosmetic concerns and treatment goals will be discussed. We will listen attentively to gain insight into what you hope to achieve through treating your lip volume loss concerns. This discussion allows us to explain what can be realistically achieved.
Next, we will thoroughly examine your facial features, asking about the areas of your lips where you have concerns regarding volume loss. We will carefully evaluate your facial anatomy, taking note of bone structure, fat pads and skin laxity. This assessment helps us to determine the appropriate treatment plan required. We may also inquire about any allergies or previous cosmetic treatments. This information is crucial for determining your eligibility for the procedure.
The consultation will also involve a discussion about the procedure itself, including the recommended treatments, the expected duration of the results, and any potential risks or side effects. We can explain the technique involved, ensuring you understand the process and know what to expect during and after the treatment.
Finally, the financial aspect will be discussed. We will provide information about the cost of the treatment, any potential additional expenses, and the expected longevity of the results. We can also discuss the option of follow-up treatments and maintenance. Your treatment costs will depend on the personalised details of your procedure, so it is best to wait until having your consultation before making calculations.

Thread Lifts
Thread Lifts are minimally invasive and aim to both lift and tighten the area around lips and smooth out perioral lines. The thread lift is a semi-permanent solution designed to promote dermal remodelling by stimulating new collagen, creating more structure and lift in the face. This new collagen lasts several years, making thread lifts a long-term solution.
