Our experience with reducing the appearance of wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles can become more noticeable over time as collagen and elastin change. Sun exposure, smoking habits, genetics and environmental factors, all exacerbate their appearance creating deeper lines which are more difficult to conceal.
Dr Scott Allison is a registered medical practitioner who works in cosmetic medicine and helps to train other doctors and nurses in the field. He takes a natural-looking approach to fine lines and wrinkles, with a focus on preventing brow heaviness and further visible creasing.
As a Trainer & Key Opinion Leader for Allergan Aesthetics, Dr. Allison now educates other doctors and nurses at international and national conferences. All of our staff are trained directly under his guidance, ensuring a consistently high-level of care throughout the clinic.
“The complete absence of lines and wrinkles as we age should not be the end goal, but rather a subtle softening of these lines. If we are strategic in how we address these concerns, we can also prevent the brows from dropping. Advanced treatments, such as laser and microneedling therapies may help to soften the appearance of these lines, with results that vary between individuals.” – Dr. Scott Allison.

Areas of concern /
Forehead
Addressing wrinkles early can prevent forehead lines from forming or deepening and fill out finer lines that may exist. For deeper static wrinkles, we might suggest other cosmetic treatments in conjunction to smooth the forehead completely. Lasers may support this through collagen and elastin stimulation, and your suitability and any risks are discussed during your consultation.
Crow’s Feet
Crow’s feet are fine lines that form on the outer corners of your eyes. These are caused by a loss of elasticity in the skin combined with early wrinkles caused by smiling and squinting. We can soften the lines around the eyes with targeted therapies that seek to smooth the area.
Frown Lines
Wrinkles between the eyebrows, known as “frown lines” can be prevented with specialised treatment plans. You may want to prevent the formation of dynamic fine lines or wish to relax the appearance of deeper static wrinkles to avoid looking angry or annoyed.
Lip Volume
By treating the area above the lip for wrinkles and fine lines, we may also reduce the visibility of the gums and add volume to the lip in some patients, with results that vary between individuals.
Chin Dimpling
We can often reduce dimpling and creasing in the chin to lengthen and smooth the area.
Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic
During your initial consultation, various aspects will be discussed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the procedure and your specific needs. The consultation allows us to discuss expectations openly and create a treatment plan you can approve.
Firstly, your cosmetic concerns and treatment goals will be discussed. We will listen attentively to gain insight into what you hope to achieve through treating your fine lines and wrinkles. This discussion allows us to explain what can be realistically achieved.
Next, we will thoroughly examine your facial features, asking about the areas of your face where you have concerns regarding wrinkles or fine lines. We will carefully evaluate your facial anatomy, taking note of the dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movements and expressions. This assessment helps us to determine the appropriate treatment plan required. We may also inquire about any allergies or previous cosmetic treatments. This information is crucial for determining your eligibility for the procedure.
The consultation will also involve a discussion about the procedure itself, including the type of product that will be used, the expected duration of the results, and any potential risks or side effects. We can explain the technique involved, ensuring you understand the process and know what to expect during and after the treatment.
Finally, the financial aspect will be discussed. We will provide information about the cost of the treatment, any potential additional expenses, and the expected longevity of the results. We can also discuss the option of follow-up treatments and maintenance. Your treatment costs will depend on the personalised details of your procedure, so it is best to wait until having your consultation before making calculations.
Clinical PathwaysAnd Recommendations
Recommended treatments
At Ascension, we provide comprehensive cosmetic consultations, where your comfort, aesthetic preferences, facial anatomy and skin health are all considered to provide a treatment plan tailored to your needs. You may benefit from a combination approach utilising different treatment methods and a number of sessions, which we will discuss during your consultation.
CO2 Laser
Causing ablation and coagulation at precisely targeted levels within the skin, the CO2 laser can resurface the skin, treating wrinkles and deep lines. The Co2 laser turns light energy into heat, which coagulates the targeted tissue.
Some patients may need multiple treatments, but just one treatment session may achieve noticeable results. Downtime is minor but can take about five to seven days, with minor discomfort and redness. The treatment results can continue to become noticeable for up to one year after the treatment.
Rejuran
Rejuran is a bio-regenerative treatment that uses polynucleotides (PN) to support collagen-producing cells. It may help with skin hydration and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores and skin texture. Individual results vary.
Recovery time after Rejuran is minimal, with side-effects lasting only 1-2 days. Patients may see results soon after the treatment, but the deeper effects will occur over the following months while your skin repairs itself naturally.
Morpheus 8 RF Needling
Morpheus8 RF Needling combines radio-frequency (RF) technology with microneedling, stimulating the body’s healing response to increase collagen and elastin production.
Multiple treatment sessions of Morpheus8 can work best to improve collagen loss. Downtime is minimal, with some redness and discomfort that should subside shortly after your treatment session. Your results will appear over time, as the skin produces more collagen and elastin.
WonderFace
WonderFace is a non-invasive facial toning treatment that combines neuromuscular stimulation with radiofrequency (RF) technology to work both the skin and the underlying facial muscles. Neuromuscular stimulation works the facial muscles, while RF technology supports collagen and elastin in the skin. Individual results vary and are discussed during your consultation.
Skin Needling and Exosomes
Skin Needling (also called microneedling) uses very fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin, which prompts the skin’s natural repair response and supports collagen and elastin production. This may help with the appearance of fine lines and skin texture. Individual results vary.
Results develop gradually and vary between individuals. Your suitability and the number of sessions you may need are discussed during your consultation.
