FaceTite is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL) technology to address skin laxity and contour the lower face and jawline. Unlike non-invasive treatments, FaceTite involves small incisions and the insertion of a probe to deliver radiofrequency energy to the deep tissue layers — it is not a non-surgical procedure.
To learn whether this treatment may suit your needs, you can book a consultation at Ascension Cosmetic Medicine.
What is FaceTite?
FaceTite uses radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL) technology to address skin laxity and subdermal fat in the lower facial area and jawline.
The radiofrequency energy is designed to disrupt targeted fat cells, which are then removed via a small cannula. The controlled heating effect created by the RF energy also aims to contribute to changes in skin firmness and laxity in the treated area over time. Individual results vary.
There are risks and potential side effects — including bruising, swelling, infection, scarring, nerve sensitivity changes, and the possibility of uneven results — that will be discussed in full during consultation.
From preparation to recovery – what can you expect from a Facetite procedure?
Before you dive in, there are a few things to remember so you can get ready. We’ll talk about that, plus what actually happens during and after the procedure.
Preparing for Your Procedure
Your clinician will provide personalised pre-procedure instructions during your consultation. General pre-procedure considerations may include:
- Fasting for a specified period prior to the procedure to minimise the risk of complications
- Temporary cessation of certain medications — including blood thinners — that may increase bleeding risk during the procedure
- Disclosure of your full medical history, current medications, and any relevant health conditions
Your clinician will advise on the specific requirements relevant to your individual circumstances during consultation.
A consultation with Dr Scott Allison at Ascension Cosmetic Medicine is required before any decision is made. During your consultation, Dr Allison will review your medical history, assess your individual suitability for the procedure, explain the risks and potential outcomes in full, and discuss the costs involved. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
During the Procedure
On the day of your FaceTite procedure:
- Local anaesthesia is administered to the treatment area. The type of anaesthesia used — local with or without sedation, or general anaesthesia — will be discussed during consultation
- Small incisions are made in the skin through which the RF probe and a small cannula are inserted
- The probe delivers radiofrequency energy to the deep tissue layers, creating a controlled heating effect designed to stimulate collagen production and address skin laxity
- Targeted fat cells are disrupted by the RF energy and removed via the cannula
- Procedure duration varies depending on the areas being treated and individual factors — your clinician will provide an estimate during consultation
Aftercare and Recovery
Following your FaceTite procedure, you will receive written aftercare instructions from Dr Allison. These will include contact details, details of the procedure performed, guidance on symptoms to monitor and when to seek advice, and instructions for medication, wound care, compression garment use, and activity restrictions.
General post-procedure considerations include:
- Swelling and bruising are common following FaceTite and are a normal part of the recovery process. Applying ice packs to the treated area and elevating the head — including sleeping with an extra pillow — may help manage swelling in the initial period
- Wearing a compression garment as directed by your clinician is an important part of recovery
- Keeping incision sites clean is important to reduce infection risk
- Strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and prolonged sun exposure should be avoided for a period specified by your clinician
- Certain medications, alcohol, and smoking should be avoided during the recovery period as directed
- Individual recovery timelines vary — your clinician will advise on when normal activities can be gradually resumed
If you experience unusual pain, significant swelling, signs of infection, or other unexpected symptoms during recovery, contact Ascension Cosmetic Medicine promptly.

Recovery
FaceTite does not involve the recovery period associated with more extensive facial surgery. Typical post-procedure effects — including swelling, bruising, and tenderness — generally resolve over a period of days to weeks, though individual recovery timelines vary. Your clinician will provide realistic recovery information specific to your circumstances during consultation.

Is FaceTite appropriate for you?
Whether FaceTite may be appropriate for your individual circumstances depends on factors including your skin laxity, skin condition, age, health history, and individual expectations — all of which will be assessed during consultation. If FaceTite is unlikely to address your concerns effectively, or if an alternative approach may be more appropriate, your clinician will discuss this with you.
A consultation with Dr Scott Allison at Ascension Cosmetic Medicine is the appropriate starting point for a full discussion of the procedure, its risks, its potential benefits, and whether it may be appropriate for your circumstances.
